Version 3, 30 October 2026. This policy forms part of our Terms of Sale.
1. Where we deliver
1.1 We deliver inside South Africa only. We hope to deliver overseas later, and this page will change when we do.
1.2 We do not offer collection from our workshop. Every order is delivered by courier.
2. Who delivers
2.1 We use The Courier Guy. We pack your mill and book the courier, and you receive a tracking number.
3. What delivery costs
3.1 The delivery charge is worked out at checkout from the size and weight of your parcel and your delivery address. The charge you see before you pay is final.
3.2 If The Courier Guy raises its prices between the day you order and the day we dispatch, we carry the increase and you pay no more.
4. When we dispatch
| What you ordered | When we dispatch |
|---|---|
| A Ready to ship mill | Within 2 working days of your payment. |
| A mill made to order (a pre order) | We aim to make it in about 3 weeks, and we dispatch it within 8 weeks of your payment at the latest (section 5). |
| A mill made to order after the pre order discount ends on 31 January 2027 | The same dates as a pre order, at the list price. |
| A personalised mill | The 3 weeks and the 8 weeks start when you approve the proof. |
| Salt or pepper on its own | Within the number of working days shown on the product page. |
| A Full Set | In six tranches, about a month apart (section 9). |
5. Delivery dates for pre orders
5.1 Every order carries these dates, shown in your order confirmation email:
(a) the aim, which is about 3 weeks to make your mill. This is our target and not a promise;
(b) the latest date, which is 8 weeks after the day your payment is confirmed (for a personalised mill, after you approve the proof). We promise to dispatch your mill by this date. If this date falls on a weekend, on a public holiday or while our courier is closed over the festive season, it moves to the next working day after that; and
(c) the Ready to ship date: a mill from our shelf is dispatched within 2 working days of your payment.
5.2 The shop opens on 1 November 2026, and Ready to ship mills can be dispatched from then. Pre orders are made in the order in which they were paid.
5.3 If we expect to miss the aim, we email you a new estimate. If we have not dispatched your mill by the latest date, you may cancel for a full refund (Refund, Returns and Guarantee Policy, section 3).
6. How long the courier takes
6.1 Once your mill has been dispatched, The Courier Guy’s published service levels are:
| Service | Usual time |
|---|---|
| Overnight | The next business day by 11:00 between major centres, and 1 to 2 business days to other places. |
| Economy | 2 to 4 business days. |
6.2 These times start on the day the courier collects the parcel. They are estimates, not promises, and can be longer in remote areas, around public holidays and when the courier is busy.
7. Tracking
7.1 When we dispatch your mill we email you a tracking number and a link that shows where the parcel is.
8. Receiving your parcel and damage
8.1 Please check your parcel when it arrives. If the box is damaged, tell the courier before you sign and then email us.
8.2 The risk of loss or damage passes to you when the courier delivers the parcel to your address or to the person who signs for it.
8.3 If your mill arrives damaged, email info@lighthousemills.co.za as soon as you can, and within the 30 day return period, with your order number and photographs of the mill and the packaging. We will repair it, replace it with the same number, or refund you, at our cost (Refund, Returns and Guarantee Policy, section 10).
9. Full Set tranches
9.1 We ship a Full Set in six tranches, about a month apart: Atlantic Coast (Classic and Keeper), Agulhas Coast (Classic and Keeper), Wild Coast and Eastern Cape (Classic and Keeper), KwaZulu-Natal Coast (Classic and Keeper), Heritage, and then The Elders. The aim date of the first is the end of February 2027 and of the last the end of July 2027. The latest date of the last tranche is 11 September 2027.
9.2 Each tranche comes with a dispatch note, the Papers of Provenance for its mills and a photograph.
9.3 The delivery charge for all six tranches is paid once, at checkout, when you buy the Full Set. There is nothing more to pay when each tranche is sent.
10. If delivery fails
10.1 Please give us a complete and correct delivery address and a telephone number that the courier can call.
10.2 If a delivery fails because the address is wrong or nobody is available to receive the parcel, we will contact you to arrange a second delivery. We may ask you to pay the extra courier cost when the failure was caused by an error in the details you gave us.
